Q.1 What does XTEND BCAA contain?

XTEND BCAA, is the most-advanced BCAA drink mix to build muscle, burn fat, and to prolong the intensity of and recovery from your next workout. XTEND BCAA is THE delicious, refreshing sugar free way to help you take through a gruelling gym session. XTEND BCAA contains 7g of BCAAs- in the nature designed and widely-researched 2:1:1 ratio- along with 2.5g of Glutamine and 1g of Citrulline malate. Plus, with proprietary blend of electrolytes. Designed for intra-workout consumption and shown effective in two universities studies, XTEND BCAA helps to facilitate both fat loss and new muscle construction.

Q.2 What are BCAAs?

Branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) are obtained from proteins found in diet especially in meat, dairy products, and legumes. These cannot be produced by the body. They comprise of amino acids Leucine, Isoleucine and Valine and are essential for the muscle synthesis, maintenance and repair. BCAAs are metabolized directly in the muscle and not in the liver. When protein is broken down into individual amino acids, the BCAA can either be used to build new proteins or burned as fuel to produce energy. Of the 3 BCAAs, Leucine is the one which triggers the activation of mTor pathway essential for building muscle.

Q.3 What is Citrulline Malate?

Citrulline Malate acts as an acid buffer but mainly works by reducing blood ammonia and lactate levels, thus helping in prolonged exercise performance. Citrulline also is a precursor to Arginine in the body and thus aids in increased NO production. Arginine when taken supplementally has been seen to have a very short half-life in the body and thus its nitric oxide boosting ability may not be as pronounced as it should be. Citrulline Malate which leads to the production of Arginine in the body, does not have these bioavailability issues and thus results in greater Arginine levels in the body than supplementing with Arginine itself. Note: Combining the muscle cell buffer Beta-Alanine along with the blood buffer Citrulline Malate is considered to be an excellent stack for endurance performance.

Q.4 What is Glutamine?

Glutamine is a non-essential amino acid, most abundant in the human blood, and is in great demand throughout the body due to the fact, that it is involved in three of the most crucial elements of the body - the brain, the GI tract and the immune system. In physically stressful situations such as intense or long duration exercise, there is a huge depletion of glutamine stores. Since glutamine plays such a vital role in the metabolism of the body as stated above, the body does not tolerate low levels and starts catabolizing skeletal muscle for more glutamine. This is so because the body would rather bear up with skeletal muscle catabolism than risk survival. Since skeletal muscle has a direct bearing on human physical performance, sports nutrition cannot allow catabolizing of skeletal muscles for glutamine. Thus sports nutrition terms this non-essential crucial amino acid as a conditionally essential amino acid and recommends oral supplementation with glutamine to fill up the deficient glutamine stores post exercise exogenously. Glutamine prevents catabolism of muscles, promotes anabolism, boosts immune system and enhances glycogen storage in muscles.

Q.5 What is the ideal time to consume XTEND BCAA?

The ideal time to XTEND BCAA would be during workout and post-workout. Another serving can be consumed first thing in the morning to kick-start anabolism.

Q.6 For muscle gain, is BCAA supplementation important or Whey is enough?

Whey Protein is sufficient for muscle gain. However, protein synthesis, which is the scientific term for muscle gain, is directly linked to BCAA. The amino acid Leucine is known to trigger the process of protein synthesis. Hence supplementing with BCAA can enhance muscle gain and also serve as a great source of energy.
